Porsche 917
The Porsche 917 was the tool used by Ferdinand Piëch, the grandson of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, and Son of Louise Porsche- Piëch. Ferdinand Piëch was/is a brilliant engineer who was in charge of Porsche racing development and led Porsche's racing efforts from being small displacement class winners to world beaters for overall titles. The Type 917 is the most storied race car of this period. Ferdinand Piëch went on to challenge the Porsche side of the family for control of the Porsche car dynasty which eventually moved him into the position of Volkswagen CEO.
The Type 917 went through many development modifications and each car is a major story within itself.
